About The Position

Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships, part of SAL Community Services, has expanded our team with the Illinois Department of Human Services and is the Quad Cities areas leading provider of early childhood care and education. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for. The Family Educator provides early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services through one or more home visits per month and socialization activities while at the same time, promoting the role of the parents as the first and most important teachers of their child(ren). In partnership with the family, the Family Educator will design, plan and carry out developmentally appropriate experiences and provide services, referral and resources that meet the individual needs of the child and the family. You will: Conduct 1 or more 60-minute monthly home visits for each family assigned to the caseload. For children, the home visits must be conducted with the parent or primary (legal) caregiver. Home visits must be planned to deliver comprehensive, individualized, high-quality services including and not limited to health, educational, mental health, disabilities, social services, nutritional and child growth and development. Implement the selected home-based curriculum (Parents as Teachers) through individualized lesson plans and develop and utilize teaching approaches and materials for use in the home. Develop lesson plans reflective of activities that meet the needs of all children including those at risk, those with special needs, and those who are culturally diverse. Maintain accurate written/electronic records including health information, assessments, Individual Family Service Plan documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal observations, and other required forms. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; experience in Early Childhood Education or related field with CDA or agreement to obtain a Home Visitor CDA within 18 months of hire.
  • Must have knowledge and at least one-year of experience in child development and early childhood education, adult learning, and family dynamics including knowledge of community resources and skill to link families with appropriate agencies and services.
  • Experience must demonstrate ability to plan and implement home-based learning experiences for prenatal to age five, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate, and to build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
