About The Position

The Family Educator, Early Head Start at Catholic Charities is responsible for planning and developing individualized programs for families through weekly home visits. This role involves working closely with families to enhance their understanding of child development, health, and nutrition, while also providing referrals to community resources. The educator will conduct developmental screenings, maintain accurate program data, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Additionally, the position includes administrative duties, crisis intervention, and guidance for parents volunteering in group activities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education.
  • Skilled in communicating with and motivating people, including non-English speakers.
  • Knowledgeable of Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Effective communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer programs such as Excel and Word.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies and confrontational situations.
  • Knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop individualized programs for families through weekly home visits.
  • Strengthen families' knowledge of child development and learning.
  • Integrate health and nutrition education into the program.
  • Assist parents in understanding community resources and developing problem-solving skills.
  • Provide developmental screenings and referrals to other agencies.
  • Plan and implement socialization activities according to Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Maintain accurate program data and complete necessary administrative duties.
  • Manage and inform parents of scheduled activities and field trips.
  • Prepare and submit reports in accordance with regulations.
  • Provide crisis intervention and guidance to parents volunteering in activities.

Benefits

  • Salary: $22.39 - $26.08/hour.
  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
