About The Position

This is highly responsible professional, administrative and supervisory work involving comprehensive knowledge of the court system with responsibility for planning, directing and administering all the activities necessary for the effective operation of the Community Violence Division of the Administrative Office of the Courts in Pinellas County. Work involves establishing policies and procedures for operational planning in accordance with established laws, rules and regulations, including close coordination with the strategic aims of the court. Work includes responsibility for analyzing and solving administrative problems, assigning and reviewing the work of subordinates, and participating directly in the operational tasks supporting the court divisions, including appearing in court as necessary. Work is assigned in broad terms through conferences with the Director of Administrative Services, Trial Courts Administrator, Chief Judge, or Administrative Judge(s) and is reviewed for results obtained. Work is coordinated with the Family Law Case Management Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college with major course work in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Five years professional level management or administrative experience including three years of supervisory experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Florida Court System.
  • Working knowledge of family law statutes, rules and case law.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and budgeting principles.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics, case management, and automation systems.
  • Supervisory skills
  • Ability to research matters, analyze policy and make recommendations for improvements
  • Experience in dealing with the public, social agencies, and government agencies.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality, impartiality, and honesty in handling matters before the court.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of family law and domestic violence issues preferred.
  • Juris doctorate may substitute for up to three years of related experience.
