About The Position

The Family Connections Specialist plays a crucial role in the Foster Care Coalition of Greater St. Louis by enhancing efforts to identify safe and suitable relative supports and potential placements for youth in foster care. This position focuses on reconnecting youth with their family of origin, prioritizing the establishment of multiple relative connections to promote stability and support for children in foster care. The specialist facilitates communication and relationships between youth and their relatives, ensuring that all efforts are made to keep siblings together and preserve important relationships. The role involves comprehensive assessments, documentation, and collaboration with various stakeholders to support positive outcomes for children and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with interdisciplinary teams in the child welfare field.
  • Direct experience in foster care and adoption, with knowledge of resource parent licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and contact a minimum of 80 relatives for potential placement and support for youth in foster care.
  • Facilitate reconnection efforts between youth and their relatives, including phone calls, video chats, or mentorship.
  • Conduct assessments of youth and family needs and identify community resources.
  • Assist in eliminating barriers to placement with relatives and create a network of support services.
  • Maintain accurate family documentation, including genograms and family contact information.
  • Complete thorough and timely documentation of case-related activities and billing requirements.
  • Navigate and use software packages to collect and track program data, including Salesforce and Genopro.
  • Participate in team and agency meetings and respond to communication from families and professionals in a timely manner.
