As a Family Coach, you will work closely with Oregon families and work is based in the Madras Office and in the local community. Due to the value of in-person interactions and relationships, this position is not suitable for remote work.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • A bachelor's degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field; OR a bachelor's degree in any field AND one year of human services related experience; OR an associate degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science or a closely related field AND two years of human services related experience; OR three years of human services related experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that are bilingual in Spanish and English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with motivational interviewing and strength-based case management.
  • Demonstrated skill to be a self-starter, self-motivated and continuous learner.
  • Experience organizing work efficiently and managing multiple tasks through interruptions.
  • Experience explaining complex rules, regulations, processes, and procedures both verbally and in written communications.
  • Knowledge of ODHS programs and community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews to determine family need.
  • Explore alternate resources and link clients to community services.
  • Issue appropriate support payments.
  • Engage and empower clients in family evaluation of strengths.
  • Jointly develop a case plan and identify the steps the family will take towards self-sufficiency and meeting their basic needs.
  • Monitor progress, needs, and make necessary modifications to the case plan.
  • Initiate and participate in case staffing, employment readiness, life skills training, and support job search as needed.
  • Assist with crisis and safety planning for individuals experiencing domestic violence.
  • Complete program eligibility and if appropriate, issue grant payments.
  • Assist with providing resources and services within the community.
