About The Position

The Family Child Care Program Coordinator (FCCPC) supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of Family Child Care services for families enrolled in Child, Youth & Family Services (CYFS) programs. Under the direction of the Family Child Care Manager (FCCM), this role provides training, technical assistance, and coordination to ensure high‑quality services that meet federal, state, and local requirements. The FCCPC strengthens CAPSLO’s mission by supporting the family child care program option serving children and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Three years of related experience, including at least one year in family child care.
  • Fluent in two or more languages, including one that supports the needs of the community.
  • Valid California Driver License, insured transportation, and acceptable driving record.
  • Has a dependable, insured transportation and valid California driver’s license (mileage to be reimbursed) and an acceptable driving record. A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of supervisory, administrative, or training/monitoring experience in early childhood education

Responsibilities

  • Program Development & Implementation
  • In collaboration with the FCCM, develop and implement Family Child Care services for children, parents, and staff, ensuring input from Directors, Managers, Coordinators, Specialists, Service Area Staff, and parents.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive written family child care plans, policies, and procedures that meet all federal, state, and local guidelines.
  • Work closely with leadership teams to develop program plans and ensure implementation.
  • Assist with planning and conducting the program’s annual contract monitoring review.
  • Support updates and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring, Training & Technical Assistance
  • Coordinate and monitor children’s attendance and project contract earnings with the FCCM and Finance Department.
  • Assist in providing training on program standards and state requirements to FCC staff and contracted FCC providers.
  • Monitor FCC provider and child files to ensure adherence to performance standards.
  • Ensure that family cultural traditions, healing practices, and beliefs are respected and integrated into family child care practices.
  • Participate with Content Area Managers and Coordinators to ensure family child care education and activities are included across education, disabilities, health, nutrition, and family engagement areas.
  • Community Engagement & Family Support
  • Participate in the community assessment process to identify health and nutrition resources and professionals.
  • Participate in the annual self‑assessment and support compliance with all performance standards.
  • Ensure staff meet with parents as needed to explain program services or address concerns regarding their child’s needs.
  • Promote parent involvement and provide program orientation models to Family Child Care Coordinators.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts to introduce and promote family child care services across multiple communities.
  • Staff Support & Collaboration
  • Participate in CYFS Technical Support Team meetings to coordinate training for FCC staff.
  • Participate in CYFS Division meetings to help update and implement policies and procedures.
  • Support and mentor Family Child Care Coordinators in carrying out position requirements.
  • Assist the FCCM in collecting data and providing input into the annual Training and Technical Assistance Plan.
  • Assist in reviewing the Program Information Report and using data to improve services.
  • Networking & Representation
  • Attend staff, program, and community meetings and trainings.
  • Advise on the use of community resources and referrals.
  • Network within and outside the agency to increase knowledge of resources, develop effective relationships, and support CAPSLO’s mission.
