About The Position

The Family Based Mental Health Therapist is a key role within Unity Family Services, responsible for providing clinical assessment, developing treatment plans, and delivering intensive, individualized treatment and skills training to families in the In-Home Family-Based Program. This position requires collaboration with a team that may include a mental health worker and a mental health aid, ensuring effective treatment delivery. The therapist will coordinate support services and collaborate with external organizations to enhance family support.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, education, or rehabilitation with 2 years of experience in a CASSP system program.
  • Licensed registered nurse (RN) with 5 years of experience including 2 years in a CASSP system program and OMH certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, or related field with OMH certification.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clients and personnel from other professional settings.
  • Excellent computer, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in family systems theory and structural family therapy.
  • Ability to train families in parenting and communication skills.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and mental health support.

Responsibilities

  • Completes clinical child/family assessments and develops initial treatment plans.
  • Participates in a treatment team with co-therapist to provide intensive individual and family treatment.
  • Communicates and collaborates with teammates to maximize therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Provides consultation to schools and community agencies for coordinated service plans.
  • Follows family progress with psychiatric physician and arranges evaluations as needed.
  • Assists families in utilizing community resources and develops support service networks.
  • Provides mental health crisis support and on-call availability for consultation.
  • Completes routine paperwork including progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Safeguards confidential information and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
  • Recognizes the importance of cultural sensitivity in treatment.
