For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, currently offering more than 160 programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and individuals struggling with mental illness. Early Childhood Development Centers provide free Head Start services to low-income families at no cost to the children ages 3 to 5 years. The high-quality services are offered in the center-based program settings available for the Brooklyn and Queens Communities. Through the Montessori approach, the centers ensure children are ready for school by providing a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, language-literacy, and physical development. The Head Start Program strives to actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program as a key to a child’s robust development as well as to offer the learning experiences tailored to the changing needs and abilities of children. STATEMENT OF THE JOB The Family Assistant is responsible to maintain the health records of children enrolled in the program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervise and support Social Service staff in the absence of the Family Service Coordinator (FSC), maintain children’s files in accordance to ACS/DOHMH regulations and compliance standards.
