About The Position

A loving family of four living in San Francisco, CA is in search of a part-time Family Assistant/Nanny to join their home. The family has a 1.5 and 3.5 year old and they both currently go to daycare. The family is ideally looking for afternoon and after-school support during the week (often with 1 parent present), and some babysitting occasionally on the weekend for date nights. Below are 2 scheduling options: 4 hours per day 5 days per week Monday - Thursday: 2-6pm Sunday - 3-7pm (flexible) It would be great if the candidate can make Sunday work, but alternatively, Friday 4-8pm is okay too. Alternatively: 5 hours per day 4 days per week Monday - Thursday: 1-6pm Occasional 3-4 hour babysitting sessions on the weekends

Responsibilities

  • Groceries and preparing dinner
  • Responsible for cooking weeknight dinners for kids and adults, and keeping groceries well-stocked for breakfasts
  • Can also help prepare some breakfast items the night before (e.g., overnight oats, chia puddings).
  • Laundry
  • Washing and folding kids and adult clothing
  • Bi-weekly washing of sheets and towels
  • Occasional dry-cleaning run and pickup.
  • Awareness of how to properly care for more delicate items that require hang drying and/or steaming.
  • Organization projects
  • Daily resetting the home
  • Putting away toys, wiping down the counter, basic tidying, light vacuuming (house cleaners come every other week for deep cleaning).
  • Routine sorting of kids' books, toys, and clothes
  • Routine purging and organizing of the fridge
  • One-off organization projects of various parts of the house.
  • Childcare
  • During 5-6pm or on occasional no-school days, you’ll either be responsible for the 2 older kids (that means school pickup, supervising dinner, play) OR watching the baby while the parents take care of the older two. But not all three at the same time.
  • Post-dinner cleanup
  • Help hand-wash children’s dishware, load dishwasher, clear and clean the dining table and kitchen surfaces
  • Household purchasing and inventory
  • Purchasing, restocking, and refilling household supplies. Like reordering diapers, wipes, paper towels, etc.
  • Refilling soap containers/pantry items
  • Research options for occasional purchases (e.g., gifts, appliances, etc)
  • Managing returns, donations, and making things disappear (e.g., free/sell via buy nothing, proper recycling, and disposing of occasional items)
  • Seasonal projects
  • Sorting and organizing seasonal books/activities/clothing
  • Assisting with holiday cards, gifts, and errands
  • Assisting with photobooks.
  • Home improvement project coordination
  • Help when needed to bring in outside help for electrical work, plumbing, handyman projects, etc.
  • This will be done in a team effort with the family
