About the position

The Classroom Teacher will be the spiritual leader in the classroom by modeling prayer and love toward students in a Christ-like manner. He/she will effectively plan and execute lessons, with appropriate strategies, for student mastery of content. The teacher will recognize all students learn differently and will implement motivating and engaging learning strategies designed to meet the needs of all learners. This method of teaching will contribute to students' development as mature, able and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God. He/she will also manage/monitor student learning in an encouraging classroom environment that allows for students to grow in depth of knowledge. Teacher will engage in professional development trainings and collaborative learning opportunities for growth in professional relationships and growth in his/her craft of teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Intentionally integrates Biblical values and morals
  • Understands and implements the Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, peers and administration in an appropriate manner
  • Assesses students' spiritual leads them in spiritual growth
  • Leads students in daily prayer and devotions
  • Models a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy (the art and science of teaching)
  • Designs lessons with clear, focused and measurable instructional objectives
  • Plans include integration of technology to enhance/accelerate learning and mastery of content
  • Establishes learning expectations with well-defined openings
  • Guides students to apply learning to real-world applications
  • Implements a variety of strategies to introduce, explain and restate subject matter concepts
  • Employs a variety of questioning techniques that enhances critical thinking
  • Intentionally plans pre-assessments, formative and summative assessments aligned to learning objectives
  • Plans provision for student feedback through self-assessment
  • Identifies students in need of additional or different forms of instruction and determines effective instructional modifications
  • Creates a learning environment promoting positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation
  • Encourages students to accept God and the gift of salvation and grow in their faith
  • Provides opportunities for students to lead prayer and devotions
  • Manages student behavior: implements classroom rules, routines and procedures that allow a student to assume his/her own responsibility
  • Organizes physical space: attractive, well-ordered, conducive to learning and student work displayed
  • Communicates in a positive, clear manner and uses accurate grammar and spelling in written form
  • Maintains timely and accurate student records/grades in RenWeb and submits weekly lesson plans
  • Communicates with families about students' progress on a regular basis and responds to family/student concerns in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Seeks out opportunities for professional development and participates to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skill
  • Creates a professional growth plan demonstrating progress in content areas and instructional methods

Requirements

  • A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
  • A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
  • Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy
  • Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Current state teaching certificate/license
  • Have completed at least 24 semester hours in subject taught for 'major part of the day'
  • Have completed at least 12 semester hours in subject taught for 'less than major part of the day'
  • Have completed at least 12 hours in professional education coursework
  • Meet certification guidelines required to obtain and maintain active ACSI teacher certification throughout employment
