About The Position

The Family Advocate I provides direct services, in the center and in the home, to help families access resources (e.g. housing, economic, transportation, education, employment, etc.).

Requirements

• Must hold and maintain CPR certification.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

• Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen children and their families to assess barriers to success in reaching individual and family goals.
• Link children and families to resources and services that will help them in overcoming identified barriers.
• Provide family education and support services as needed.
• Assist participant families to gain increased empowerment in utilizing resources and activities to address family goals, with the emphasis on self-sufficiency.
• Maintain complete and current rerecords on all participant families, including progress towards the child’s goals and parent’s progress toward family service goals.
• Facilitate parent/child activities when applicable by selecting and applying the appropriate tools and curriculum.
• Collaborates with Special Education teachers, Social Workers, and families to ensure continuity of services.
• Attends and actively participates in all staff meetings and trainings.
