The Families Together Building Solutions (FTBS) program is a home-based, short-term, strength based, solution-focused family preservation program for children and families referred by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). FTBS assists in reducing child abuse/neglect, provides solution-focused services to assist families with meeting behaviorally specific goals, and to keep families intact. These services decrease the risk of child abuse/neglect and out-of-home placement and help effectively meet the needs of at-risk families. FTBS works alongside families to make progress towards identified goals for a period of 90 days, with the possible extension of 90 additional days. FTBS services enhance household management skills, strengthen communication and conflict resolution skills, increases the use and awareness of community resources, teaches and models positive parenting, and offers a wide range of other services to reduce risks and barriers while building on existing strengths of the families served for positive outcomes.
