About The Position

The Fair Housing Education and Outreach Coordinator (FHEOC) at Northside Community Resources (NCR) is responsible for leading outreach and educational initiatives within the Fair Housing program. This role involves engaging with diverse communities in Chicago to promote awareness of fair housing rights and assist individuals facing housing discrimination. The FHEOC will develop training materials, conduct workshops, and collaborate with various organizations to ensure effective communication and understanding of fair housing laws.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of one (1) year of fair housing or equivalent housing-related experience.
  • Strong bilingual language skills in Spanish/English.
  • High degree of computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and social media platforms.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience in investigative processes related to housing discrimination is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating NCR's Fair Housing Education & Outreach Program in collaboration with the Fair Housing Initiative Program (FHIP) team.
  • Creating new training materials including handouts and PowerPoint presentations to improve existing NCR fair housing educational materials.
  • Arranging for translation of NCR fair housing materials and interpreters for speaking events as needed.
  • Conducting outreach and marketing of fair housing materials via community networking, canvassing, flyer drops, press releases, and social media.
  • Conducting community workshops and presentations to raise awareness of fair housing rights and NCR's services.
  • Maintaining program data and assisting the FH Program Director with reporting of program activities to HUD.
  • Receiving and processing incoming calls, emails, and walk-in clients needing assistance with housing discrimination.
  • Screening potential clients for program eligibility and conducting client intake/referrals as needed.
  • Evaluating client intakes and providing resource and legal referrals as appropriate.
  • Gathering information and following up with potential clients for evaluations, investigations, and resource referrals.
