About The Position

The Fair and Responsible Banking Officer plays a crucial role in developing and managing a compliance program that addresses regulatory risks within the organization. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, this position focuses on overseeing compliance programs related to Fair Lending, the Community Reinvestment Act, UDAAP, and Military Protections. The officer collaborates with various business units to ensure compliance strategies are effective, reduce risks, and enhance operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality customer service.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of compliance or regulatory experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with consumer laws/regulations (e.g., Fair Lending, UDAAP, Military Lending Act, CRA, Servicemembers Civil Relief Act).
  • Proficient in HMDA and CRA data requirements.
  • Experience using complex data to create risk-focused metrics for decision making.
  • Experience in staff management.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal banking laws and regulations.
  • Proven communication, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Strong relationship management and leadership skills, including dealing with senior management.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and act quickly under tight deadlines.

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance regulatory compliance and reduce risk.
  • Identify and interpret state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Provide oversight and guidance in developing policies, procedures, and disclosures.
  • Keep policies and procedures up to date with new regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between Compliance and business units to address compliance concerns.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of technology enhancements, including vendor review, program setup, and change management.
  • Provide compliance support for new product and service initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees and managers.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HMDA and CRA data.
  • Prepare reports for the Board, Management, and the CRA Committee.
  • Participate in the Compliance Risk Assessment process.
  • Develop a compliance monitoring plan based on risk assessment results.
  • Review and distribute compliance review results, and work with business units to address deficiencies.
  • Assist in regulatory compliance examinations and third-party reviews.
  • Manage consumer complaints and review advertisements for compliance.
  • Perform employee evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
