Position Summary In your role as a Failure Analysis Technician, you'll be responsible for performing functions associated with lab operations, which collaborates with engineering, and directly support manufacturing with regard to destructive wafer analysis, structure and failure analysis. You'll also carry out level appropriate equipment maintenance. You'll also be responsible to employs methodologies utilizing sophisticated instrumentation for the purpose of destructive analysis, fault isolation, and sampling related to root cause analysis and process characterization; and determine and assist in developing methods and procedures to optimize techniques and capabilities related to in-lab operations.

Requirements

  • Two years or less of college or technical school (preferred, but not required)
  • Less than three years’ of experience in Semiconductor field (preferred, but not required)
  • Job Functions: SEM Operation, Chemical and Dry Etch Sample Delayering, Physical Failure Analysis Sample Manipulation, pFIB Operation, FIB Operation, FIB TEM Sample Preparation, Equipment Maintenance (operator level), Troubleshooting and Calibration (operator level).
  • Must have to the ability to work with small quantities of chemicals and in a wet lab environment (applicable to specific job function).
  • Must have the ability to prepare high quality samples free of damage specific to the process technique trained on and as outlined in related SOPs.
  • Must have the ability to manipulate small features, tools or samples. consistently as related to sample preparation or equipment maintenance and troubleshooting (applicable to specific job function).
  • Prior experience with wafer processing
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
  • Some positions require long hours in a stationary siting position (applicable to specific job function).
  • Good vision and able to manipulate systems to improve imaging requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Sample Preparation: Perform detailed preparation of product samples and wafers to follow on analysis on Failure Analysis samples.
  • Failure Analysis: Conduct failure analysis on logic chips, imaging them on SEMs to help determine the root cause of problems.
  • Reporting: Report finding on samples to FA Engineers to help determine follow on work as needed. (TEM, Nanoprobing, AFM, etc).
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and help maintain failure analysis lab equipment, such as Dual Beam FIBs (Focused Ion Beam) and SEMs (Scanning Electron Microscopes), Optical Microscopes, etc.
  • Establish ownership of individual performance related to department Key Process Indices (KPI).
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new products or lab processes and help spread learning to other technicians and teams.
