Requirements

• Experience in failure analysis of consumer hardware products.
• Strong understanding of electrical, thermal, and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits and components.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manufacturing partners.
• Experience in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with product safety analysis and claims resolution.
• Familiarity with high volume manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of software/firmware interactions with hardware.

Responsibilities

• Provide insight to the design team for design risks by performing tear-downs of prototype devices.
• Perform failure analysis of both development units and field returns by working with manufacturing partners and cross-functional engineering teams to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Work with the product safety team to identify and resolve any product safety claims.
• Evaluate electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine the root cause of failure.
• Set up processes to determine why failures are happening and recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems.
• Recognize customer induced damage and analyze all potential failure modes, including issues related to packaging/logistics, software/firmware, and mechanical or electrical issues.
• Develop procedures and automation to support high volume field failure analysis.
