About The Position

Shape the bright futures of Grand Canyon University students as a full-time Faculty member for the traditional ground campus in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, which provides a job focused education. Grand Canyon University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences helps students become creative, ethical, and critical thinkers in the workplace. As a full-time Faculty member, you'll provide program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. We are seeking a full-time faculty member to teach Bachelor's level Social Work courses! GCU BSW's program is now fully accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • At least two (2) years of post-master's social work degree practice experience.
  • Licensed Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW).
  • Two years of instructional experience in social work at the post-secondary level.
  • Familiarity with web enhanced instructional tools such as Angel/Blackboard/WebCT.
  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective.
  • Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, self-motivation, integrity, and commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree in Social Work or related field (psychology, counseling, sociology, etc.).
  • Research experience with social service agencies (state or non-profit) a plus.
  • Publication in peer reviewed journals related to social work.
  • Direct experience evaluating learner achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Social Work courses to a diverse group of undergraduate students.
  • Serve on Departmental Committees to support the creativity, growth and development of the program.
  • Engage students in professional advisement.
  • Actively engage with students outside of the classroom for special events, career preparedness, and student club activities.
  • Actively engage in professional development activities.
