About The Position

The Faculty & Student Services Assistant is responsible for assisting faculty with classroom activities, academic project support, welcome center for guests, and serve as a mentor and University ambassador for new international students at the Franklin University main campus in downtown Columbus.

Requirements

  • Equipment knowledge – PCs, TVs, SMART boards, projectors
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Successfully complete a minimum of one semester of full-time coursework and are currently enrolled at the University
  • Student must remain in good academic standing and have no official charges of academic dishonesty
  • Be able to work with a diverse population of students who have varied needs for assistance
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills
  • Have an outgoing, positive attitude, with a willingness to play a key role in student support
  • Demonstrate initiative, dependability, and reliability
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have a knowledge of the campus and its various resources
  • Be proficient with computers and office applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow through and complete tasks as assigned
  • The successful candidate must be a Franklin student in good academic standing, able to work both as part of a team as well as independently, possess excellent communication skills, problem-solving skills, and be able to manage time effectively.
  • Must be proficient with the Internet, Microsoft Office applications, and have the ability to learn additional software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative/project assistance to full-time and part-time faculty and staff
  • Provide customer service to student and guests of the University
  • Assist faculty with completion of projects and classroom setup
  • General administrative support including telephone coverage, filing, and mail distribution
  • Assist new international students with housing and transportation information prior to arrival
  • Assist with orientation sessions, check-in events and other “getting started” activities
  • Support PF 521 faculty with in-class activities and assignments
  • Be a positive role model for new international students by serving as a mentor upon completion of their PF course
