About The Position

The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for a faculty position to teach undergraduate rehabilitation sciences courses in the Health and Physical Rehabilitation Sciences major. This position may be offered as a 9- or 12-month appointment at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor, commensurate with the selected candidate. This major is housed within the USF College of Public Health for undergraduate students that are interested in pursuing graduate professional programs in physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy, or a related rehabilitation science field. This role is primarily focused on teaching courses in this undergraduate major; however, opportunities for research and university service may be incorporated as appropriate. Candidate application reviews will begin on Feb. 3, 2026.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree: Hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution in a rehabilitation science-related field (e.g. exercise physiology, rehabilitation science, kinesiology, biomechanics, athletic training).
  • Teaching Experience: Possess experience in teaching in one or more of the following areas: anatomy and physiology, rehabilitation science, biomechanics, motor learning and behavior, kinesiology, neuroscience, etc.
  • Must meet the university criteria for the appointment to the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral Degree: Hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in a rehabilitation science-related field (e.g. exercise physiology, rehabilitation science, kinesiology, biomechanics, physical therapy, athletic training).
  • Scholarly Activity : Have a publication background and research experience in rehabilitation science.
  • Service History: Have a history of university and/or professional service.

Responsibilities

  • Course preparation and instruction: Prepare and deliver course materials, assess student performance, and manage classroom activities.
  • This role may include course development and teaching of the following undergraduate courses: Anatomy and Physiology Biomechanics Motor Learning and Behavior Movement Neuroscience Kinesiology and Pathomechanics
  • Student advising : Provide guidance and support to students in their academic pursuits specifically in the rehabilitation sciences.
  • Participate in institutional and professional/community service: Actively engage in institutional, professional, and community service activities.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university.
  • Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  • Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
  • May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
