About The Position

North Park University is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member in Spanish language and Latino/Latin American Studies. This position is part of the College of Arts and Sciences Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, which emphasizes a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of language and culture-based courses, including an eight-week study abroad program in Cuenca, Ecuador. The professor will teach six courses (24 semester-hours) per academic year, covering a range of topics from beginning to advanced Spanish language courses, literature, culture, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and Latin American Studies, as well as a general education history course related to Latin America.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Spanish, Latin American Studies, or a related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish language and culture at the college level.
• Experience with study abroad programs and intercultural education.
