About The Position

Assistant/Associate Professor, Appointment Stream, Full-Time (12-month) faculty member in the Doctor of Chiropractic Program (DCP), Department of Community Health Services and Rehabilitation Science, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. CONTENT AREA: Applicants with a focus on lecture and laboratory instruction in the Chiropractic Sciences courses of the DCP curriculum. The position additionally involves instruction related to the diagnosis and management of spinal and extraspinal disorders prevalent in contemporary chiropractic practice. Additional laboratory or classroom instruction in the DCP may be assigned depending on the needs of the program and as assigned by the Program Director. Instruction is aimed at introducing and developing the knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning, and professionalism necessary for graduating students to function as an evidence-based, primary musculoskeletal practitioners in different clinical settings. ESTIMATED START DATE: April 1, 2026 Position Rank/Classification: The position is open at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, and the assigned rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Doctor of Chiropractic degree program.
  • Relevant practice experience within the last 5 years.
  • Active Pennsylvania DC license (or the ability to acquire such licensure upon hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate training, certifications, and/or Diplomates relevant to the Duties and Responsibilities (e.g., Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, Orthopedics, Sports Chiropractic).
  • Clinical practice experience as a chiropractor in an interdisciplinary medical setting.
  • Teaching experience of courses directly related to those mentioned in Duties and Responsibilities.
  • Formal training in evidence-based medicine/practice.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the diagnosis and management of spinal and extraspinal disorders prevalent in contemporary chiropractic practice in both lecture and/or laboratory settings.
  • Train, supervise, and coordinate lab instruction with assigned teaching assistants.
  • Stimulate class discussions and student participation in learning activities.
  • Create and/or compile course materials for distribution to students such as syllabi with learning objectives mapped to programmatic objectives and Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) metacompetencies, notes, lab guides, online resources, and/or bibliographies of specialized materials for reading and/or writing assignments.
  • Create and/or compile, administer, and evaluate student and programmatic written or laboratory examinations for the purposes of assigning student grades.
  • Participate actively in leadership and group memberships within the chiropractic program (e.g. curriculum committee, admission committee, faculty meetings, etc.)
  • Participate in mutually agreed upon professional development to continually enhance teaching, and other skills needed to execute their responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
