About The Position

This position is responsible for teaching in Touro University Nevada as required. This position fulfills duties to further the mission of the department, college, and University by participating in student education, scholarly activities, and University service. Faculty members are encouraged to conduct original research/scholarly activities and pursue extramural funding in their areas of interest. This position is a 12-month appointment with primary teaching and clinical responsibilities with opportunities to conduct original research/scholarly activities and contribute to institutional service activities. Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the iconic Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. Requirements

  • DO or MD degree required.
  • Current Nevada license and board certification in a primary care specialty (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Pediatrics).
  • US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
  • Experience in teaching osteopathic, medical, allied health and/or graduate students.
  • Evidence of productivity in research or other scholarly activities.
  • Substantial teaching experience in a US medical school, preferably in an osteopathic program.
  • Solid knowledge of biological sciences, mathematics, chemistry, and other aspects of medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an educator ensuring the quality, integrity, and defined standards within faculty's discipline.
  • Develop and deliver content in collaboration with Program Directors and Department Chairs ensuring essential elements adhere to and exceed accreditation requirements and the University's mission.
  • Maintains content expertise within discipline and contributes to the curricular model and delivery modalities of coursework.
  • Ensures teaching is current, appropriate, and inter-related, integrating emerging knowledge with practical longitudinal clinical experience.
  • Works effectively as a team member to enhance and improve curricula, maintaining a climate hospitable to creativity and innovation.
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of various teaching and assessment approaches.
  • Provides medical services including documentation, billing, utilization, and peer review to meet or exceed standard of care.
  • Maintains professional knowledge through educational workshops, publications, and professional organizations.
  • Serves as an effective leader/mentor for students in the clinical environment.
  • Provides engagement and supervision in leading University to prepare students for service learning opportunities.
  • Helps ensure students reach optimal performance through monitoring and advising.
  • Collaborates and mentors with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement research topics.
  • Presents on research and scholarly topics locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Builds collaborative partnership opportunities across various entities.
  • Promotes and represents the University at local, state, and national events.
  • Coordinates with the Office of Advancement/Public Relations on media contacts and communications.
  • Serves on various committees and teams within the University as assigned.
  • Contributes to University's compliance with accreditation documentation.
  • Performs other duties as needed/assigned.
