About The Position

The Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (MSOM) is dedicated to educating the next generation of physicians who are professionally accomplished, socially responsible, and community-oriented. Located on the campus of Meritus Health in Hagerstown, Maryland, MSOM will be the first new medical school in Maryland in over a century. The inaugural class will begin in July 2025, with an initial cohort of 90 medical students, expanding to 180 in future classes. The state-of-the-art D.M. Bowman Academic Hall will feature advanced simulation centers, labs, classrooms, and a conference center. Adjacent housing will provide on-campus living for students. This initiative aims to address the national shortage of healthcare professionals and is projected to generate over $750 million in economic activity by 2030.

Requirements

  • D.O. degree with a history in academic medicine teaching and assessment.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in teaching and academic leadership in an osteopathic medical school.
  • Full-time teaching experience in an osteopathic medical school.
  • Successful experience at the Discipline or Department level in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively teaching and directing clinical sciences courses.
  • Actively licensed osteopathic physician who is ABMS or AOA board certified in NMM/OMM.

  • Successful completion of an approved faculty development or other graduate program in education management.
  • Knowledge of osteopathic medical education concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach with the OMM Medicine Department.
  • Responsible for the clinical curriculum of OMS I-IV and Skill Training.
  • Implement the clinical academic program ensuring curricular content is taught, learned, and assessed appropriately.
  • Support the Chair of NMM/OMM in pre-clinical and clinical teaching, research, and scholarly activities.
