About The Position

Wilkes University invites applicants for a non-tenure-track Faculty of Practice position in Spanish, within the Division of Global Cultures: History, Languages & Philosophy, pending available funding. The Division of Global Cultures offers a major and minor in Spanish, as well as the unique Spanish Concentration for Pharmacy, which serves students in our Doctor of Pharmacy program. Faculty of Practice carry a 24-credit teaching load (4 courses per semester). Appointments are made on a 9-month basis and are renewed annually. Faculty of Practice are afforded all privileges of other full-time faculty, including rights to vote and participate in faculty governance and the protection of academic freedom. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Teaching a variety of Spanish courses, including introductory and intermediate language courses as well as applied courses (e.g. Spanish for health care) that support the Spanish Concentration for Pharmacy. Non-teaching duties include student advising and university service. Wilkes University is an independent, comprehensive university dedicated to academic excellence in the liberal arts, sciences, and selected professional programs. The University has approximately 2,350 students at the undergraduate level and over 1,350 full time equivalent students at the graduate and first professional levels. The University is located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, a revitalized city that is located on the lovely Susquehanna River and is within two and one-half hours driving distance of New York City and Philadelphia.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Spanish or a closely related field is required.
