About The Position

Mercer University's Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track, full-time, 12-month Simulation and Clinical Skills Coordinator position. The Simulation and Clinical Skills Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the clinical skills and simulation learning environments. This position supports nursing faculty and students by overseeing simulation-based instruction, including high-fidelity, low-fidelity, and task trainer modalities, as well as clinical skills lab activities, to advance experiential learning in alignment with student learning outcomes and accreditation standards. Rank and salary are commensurate with professional qualifications and experience. This is a non-tenure-track full-time (12-month) faculty position.

Requirements

  • Master's in nursing from an accredited university/college.
  • Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Georgia.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Experience with simulation-based education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Philosophy commensurate with Mercer University's mission and values.

  • Doctorate in Nursing.
  • Previous academic teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with INACSL simulation standards of best practice.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate clinical skills and simulation activities that reflect current nursing practices and align with student learning outcomes.
  • Manage scheduling of simulation and skills labs to meet program needs.
  • Prepare simulation labs, equipment, manikins, and supplies for clinical scenarios, skills practice, and check-off sessions.
  • Ensure safe, effective, and consistent use of simulation technology and equipment.
  • Operate and troubleshoot simulation equipment.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to design and implement realistic simulation-based learning experiences.
  • Assist faculty in integrating simulation and clinical skills instruction into curricula.
  • Provide orientation and training to faculty and students on the use of simulation resources and lab equipment.
  • Facilitate student learning during clinical skills practice and check-offs, simulations, and remediation sessions.
  • Evaluate simulation and lab activities to support student outcomes and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain records of simulation and clinical skills lab activities, student performance data, and lab utilization.
  • Participate in curriculum meetings to ensure alignment between simulation activities and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, supplies, and materials; coordinate reordering as needed.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and storage of lab equipment and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for lab use and safety.
