About The Position

The media and communication department is seeking candidates for a full-time, temporary, faculty position to begin September 1, 2026. The successful candidate will exhibit evidence of teaching effectiveness, maintain an active research agenda, and demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion best practices. The generalist position in Media and Communication will include undergraduate teaching duties in media literacy, mass media and society, critical analysis of media, and other core courses as needed. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: health communication, the development, use and regulation of new electronic communication technologies, human interaction with digital media, and interdisciplinary multimedia applications. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Media/Communication Studies or a related field
  • Experience in and a commitment to teaching in a multicultural environment with students from a variety of backgrounds and learning styles
  • Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and/or research collaborations
  • Experience with teaching, supervision, and advising

Nice To Haves

  • PhD degree in Media/Communication Studies or related fields
  • Industry experience in STEM-applied communication or similar fields
  • Record of research in one or more of the following areas: health communication, the development, use and regulation of new electronic communication technologies, human interaction with digital media, and interdisciplinary multimedia applications.
  • Potential for excellence in community engagement and university service

Responsibilities

  • Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract.
  • Duties include teaching, advising, and contributions to continuously improve the department and university.
  • The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
  • The position is subject to available funding.
