About The Position

The Faculty position in Mathematics at Joliet Junior College is a full-time, tenure-track role focused on delivering high-quality instruction to a diverse student population. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education with 18+ hours in Graduate Mathematics.
  • Two years of teaching experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with college and community members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect, inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor, well-being, innovation, and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in teaching Developmental Mathematics courses.
  • Experience in online/hybrid course reviews such as Quality Matters.
  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction.
  • Experience in teaching online learning and using course learning management programs.
  • Experience using publisher online resources such as homework and testing software.
  • Experience using video conferencing tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of subject matter and stay informed of developments in the field.
  • Teach assigned mathematics courses.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and programs to determine placements and academic support.
  • Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities.
  • Be willing to teach online and/or hybrid courses.
  • Attend departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
  • Assist students with academic advising.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
  • Support the community college mission through teaching and engagement.
  • Teach at other campus sites as needed.
  • Fulfill other contractual obligations as outlined in the faculty contract.
