About The Position

Episcopal High School is seeking a faculty member that will report to their respective Department Chair for guidance, support, and accountability in teaching. The Head JV Swim Coach reports to the Athletic Director and Head Swim Coach for guidance, support, and accountability in all athletic matters. This dual role supports the academic mission of the school while leading and developing the JV Swim program in a manner consistent with the school’s mission and Guiding Principles. Teaching Responsibilities Support the school’s Mission & Guiding Principles and the school’s DCI Statement & priorities through appropriate words and actions. Design, prepare, and implement lessons, activities, and resources that facilitate active and effective learning. Develop, administer, and provide timely feedback on various types of assessments aligned with course objectives. Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. Build strong rapport with students and provide individual support as needed. Incorporate technology effectively and regularly into instruction. Communicate student progress with parents, advisors, and school leadership. Serve as an advisor to a small group of students and fulfill all requirements of the Advisory Program. Lead by example in Daily Chapel, including Family Chapel. Attend and actively participate in department meetings and required school events. Collaborate with colleagues by sharing resources and best practices. Fulfill all elements of the school’s Essential Expectations and Standards of Excellence in Teaching. Head JV Swim Coach Responsibilities Provide leadership, organization, and supervision for all practices and games in conjunction with the head swim coach. Working directly with players to improve skills, techniques, and game strategy, often focusing on specific positions or areas of need. Analyzing opposing teams' strengths and weaknesses to develop game plans. Assisting the head coach in designing and running practice sessions, including drills and game simulations. Tracking player statistics, analyzing performance data, and presenting insights to the head coach. Assisting the head coach with logistical aspects like scheduling games and managing equipment. Relaying information between the head coach and players, providing feedback on performance, and addressing concerns. Commitment to athlete safety, welfare, physical, and mental health. Complete the Safeguarding God’s Children training, both in person and online. Maintain relationships with parents, alumni, friends of the program, and others toward the positive image and promotion of the program and School. Attend and participate in athletic department meetings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff, parents, and students.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively.
  • Ability to supervise and manage multiple functions and activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Previous Coaching experience preferred.
