About The Position

The Music Department at Whitman College is seeking candidates for a one-year Faculty Fellow position in Jazz Studies, beginning August 2026. Faculty Fellows teach 60% of a regular load, to allow for reflective teaching and sustained engagement with scholarship or creative work. Completion of a terminal degree before starting the position is preferred. The successful candidate will direct the premiere ensemble in our award-winning jazz program and teach an academic course within your area of expertise in jazz studies. Fellows receive substantial research travel support and mentoring that fosters their growth in the classroom and in their scholarly/creative field.
