About The Position

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Diesel Equipment Technology area. Instruct and evaluate student performance in areas of diesel and heavy equipment technology, including electrical and electronic systems, emissions, engine assembly and overhaul, fuel injection troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and/or on-site power generation. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Diesel Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related discipline.
  • AED certified in Medium/Heavy Duty Truck in one or more areas: engines, suspension/steering, brakes, electronics/PM/HVAC and drive train or will attain by the end of the first year of employment.
  • Four (4) years of full-time diesel mechanical experience with an emphasis on electrical and electronics systems, emissions, and other areas of diesel technology which involve engines, fuel injection troubleshooting, fuel injection test bench operations, preventative maintenance and/or on-site power generation.
  • Developed organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to diversity and multi-cultural issues.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, administration, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Sensitivity to the expectations of students, staff, administration, and the public.
  • Lift 60 pounds.
  • Physical condition sufficient to crawl under and climb onto/off of large diesel trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in diesel and heavy equipment technology in electrical and electronic systems and emissions, engine assembly and overhaul, fuel injection troubleshooting, , preventive maintenance, and/or on-site power generation.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
  • Contribute to betterment of College through School committee participation.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.
