The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is seeking an organized and highly motivated Faculty Development Specialist to join our dynamic Faculty Affairs team. The Faculty Development Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs on a range of faculty development and advancement initiatives, including mentoring programs, workshops, faculty awards, and communications. This position also supports the planning, execution, and evaluation of events, workshops, and internal initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role. Prior experience in higher education or event coordination is highly preferred.

  • Manage various projects related to faculty development and recognition.
  • Coordinate project-related event logistics (such as catering orders, space reservations, event setup, attendance tracking, etc.).
  • Lead day-of event setup, including preparing materials (e.g., printouts, supplies, technology support).
  • Track attendance and manage registration processes.
  • Create calendar invitations and send reminder communication to attendees.
  • Coordinate annual faculty regalia purchase.
  • Support planning and execution of team retreats and departmental meetings.
  • Draft and send professional development (PD) communications to faculty in coordination with other team members.
  • Prepare and send communications on behalf of Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs to internal and external colleagues.
  • Create and maintain listservs for targeted communications.
  • Develop and distribute feedback forms and post-event surveys.
  • Track participation in Faculty Success Program (FSP) and other initiatives.
  • Prepare reports with guidance from team.
  • Monitor and report on event and workshop budgets.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems.
  • Update the team's intranet site with relevant content and resources.
  • Provide backup calendar management and scheduling support for the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.
  • Route DocuSign letters for faculty appointments and other administrative needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Six years of experience. Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
  • Proficiency in Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from planning through completion.
  • Attention to details and accuracy in writing, document preparation and data entry.
  • Ability to manage and appropriately prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to tasks and challenges.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide high-quality support and build positive relationships across departments and roles.
  • Experience in higher education setting.
  • Part-time (20-25 hours per week), non-exempt-level, benefited position.
  • Anticipated hiring range is $22-$25/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
  • Position has a term limit of two years after which continued employment will depend on department need and funding.
