About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking a full-time Chemistry Faculty member for the traditional ground campus in the College of Natural Sciences. This position is part of a growing college with a teaching-focused mission, aimed at shaping the futures of undergraduate students through hands-on, project-based learning. The faculty member will teach 4-5 undergraduate sections per term, focusing on Introductory and General Chemistry, with opportunities to teach advanced topics such as Organic, Physical, Analytical, Instrumental, Inorganic, Environmental, Pharmacology, and Biochemistry. The position is permanent, 9-month, starting in August 2025, with supplemental teaching opportunities available in the summer. Candidates are required to submit a complete CV and a 1-3 page Teaching Statement detailing their teaching experience and vision for mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, or closely-related field.
  • One year of instructional experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Familiarity with web enhanced instructional tools such as Angel/Blackboard/Loudcloud/Halo.
  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective.
  • Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, self-motivation, integrity, and commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses within the major.
  • Assisting students outside classroom hours.
  • Staying current on topics and practices related to the discipline.
  • Participation in curriculum design & development.
  • Active support of college/university mission and initiatives.
  • Active participation on college and/or university committees.
  • Assisting the Dean in developing internal and external communities that promote the major field of study, college, and University.
  • Providing leadership to adjunct faculty.
  • Active engagement in professional development activities.
  • Compliance with all college and University policies.
