About The Position

North Park University is seeking part-time instructors for its English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement program. This program is designed for educators looking to enhance their skills in teaching English language learners and consists of six courses totaling 18 semester hours. The courses are available to both undergraduate and graduate students. As an adjunct faculty member, you will be contracted on a term-by-term basis with no guarantee of continuous employment. You will be responsible for teaching a diverse student population and will need to adhere to the course schedule and requirements set by the academic department.

Requirements

• Experience in teaching English as a Second Language or related fields.
• Ability to teach to a diverse student population.
• Familiarity with using Canvas LMS and other educational technologies.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree in Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Previous experience as an adjunct faculty member.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the NP syllabus template, approved textbooks, supplemental course materials, and Canvas LMS.
• Submit a personalized course syllabus to the dean in electronic format at least one week before the course start date.
• Adhere to the printed course schedule meeting times and locations.
• Be available to students outside of class by email and by appointment as needed.
• Ensure that all assessments within the course are graded and returned to the students promptly.
• Submit mid-term grades for traditional undergraduate classes.
• Complete final grades and all course obligations by the due date published by the Registrar each term.
• Document the last date a student participated in an academically related activity.
