About The Position

Hiram College's Scarborough School of Business and Communication invites applicants for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in Accounting and Financial Management beginning August 2024. Through Tech and Trek, our comprehensive mobile technology program, students have equitable access to 1:1 devices to creatively and critically enhance their learning while also focusing on the importance of exploring their broader world through hiking and experiential treks. The primary purpose of the position is to coordinate, plan, prepare, present and assess classroom instruction and related activities for courses in Accounting and Financial Management, which may include courses in the discipline that can contribute to the liberal arts core curriculum of the College.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution, or a Master's degree plus a Certified Public Accountant license.
  • Teaching experience, particularly in a liberal arts environment.
  • Professional experience in one or more subject areas noted in the job description.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialization in audit/assurance services and accounting information systems.
  • Experience with data analytics and financial decision making models through advanced Excel applications.
  • Interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, prepare, present and assess classroom instruction for courses in Accounting and Financial Management.
  • Teach both introductory and advanced level accounting courses.
  • Contribute to the liberal arts core curriculum of the College.
  • Engage in academic advising and service to the College.
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda.
  • Develop internship opportunities for students.
