About The Position

This position is responsible for advanced maintenance and troubleshooting of factory automation equipment to ensure continuous and stable manufacturing flow. Technician III will work on conveyors, AMRs, robotic systems, automated transfer equipment, and PLC-based control systems, performing corrective and preventive maintenance (PM), equipment modifications, and complex repairs. This role takes a lead position in problem-solving, supports optimization of automation systems, coordinates with production and vendors, and provides guidance and training to junior technicians.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of maintenance experience in a production/plant environment, preferably with factory automation systems.
  • Experience working in dry-room environments and following gowning/PPE requirements.
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree or vocational/technical certification preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical technical knowledge and hands-on experience with industrial equipment.
  • Experience with automation/FA equipment (conveyors, robotics, AMRs, automated transfer systems) strongly preferred.
  • PLC experience (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or similar) preferred but not required; ability to understand basic logic flow and I/O.
  • Must be able to regularly use required PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes) for up to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to repeatedly for up to 12 hours: Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. Stoop, twist, and bend Reach overhead Sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Strong understanding of production processes and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Ability to analyze MES/SCADA log data for fault patterns and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of industrial sensors, actuators, motors, robots, AMRs, and I/O devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC I/O lists, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on factory automation equipment and control systems to maintain optimal operating condition.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues on automation equipment (conveyors, lifters, alignment units, AMR charging stations, robotic cells, sensors, PLC-controlled modules).
  • Support equipment modifications, upgrades, and part replacements to improve reliability and extend equipment life.
  • Respond to equipment alarms and breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
  • Communicate directly with production departments to coordinate PM activities and troubleshooting work with minimal impact to output.
  • Work closely with FA engineers, production leaders, and planning teams to align maintenance schedules with production needs.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to handle complex issues, specialized repairs, and equipment upgrades.
  • Prepare, manage, and continuously improve periodic Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules for FA equipment.
  • Record and maintain all documents related to PM, troubleshooting, and repair work (including daily reports, PM check sheets, and equipment history logs).
  • Use MES/SCADA equipment log data to analyze recurring problems, identify trends, and drive root cause solutions.
  • Train, guide, and mentor new technicians and less experienced maintenance team members on FA equipment, troubleshooting methods, and safety procedures.
  • Lead equipment-related meetings, contribute to root cause analysis (RCA), and participate in continuous improvement activities (Kaizen).
  • Support audits, vendor visits, and facility tours by explaining automation systems, maintenance strategies, and reliability improvements.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed in accordance with LGES safety standards and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area following 5S3R Standards: 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain 3R: Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Work in dry-room environments with appropriate PPE and follow all environmental and facility rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support stable and safe factory automation operations.
