About The Position

Mansfield Mill is seeking an experienced Facility Preservation Engineer, focusing on ensuring the structural, operational, and safety integrity of anks, unfired pressure vessels, relief devices, paper machine dryers, boilers and digesters throughout their lifecycle. They are responsible for managing and implementing programs that ensure these assets meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies, ultimately aiming to prevent failures and extend service life.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum eight years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience in tank construction, maintenance, and integrity management.
  • Strong proficiency in relevant industry standards (e.g., API 650, 653, 2350).
  • Technical writing and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement company policies around tanks, unfired pressure vessels, relief devices, paper machine dryers, boilers and digesters to meet IP Global Manufacturing System standards.
  • Provide oversight and collaboration with area maintenance and operations teams, providing technical support for tank inspections, repairs, and construction, including reviewing repair scopes and drawings
  • Maintain tank integrity databases, tracking data, and integrating it with other corporate programs.
  • Schedule and conduct required tank and vessel inspections and repairs as per company policies.
  • Manage budgets for facility preservation inspection and repair projects.
  • Communicate with mill business units and contractors to prepare for the required vessel inspections (safety, schedule, lockout, cleaning, scaffolding and repairs)
  • Physically participate in critical inspections to have firsthand information on repair and replacement needs.
  • Review all inspection and testing reports from NDT companies and other Contractors (Tile, Fiberglass, Dryers, and Relief Valve) to address findings.
  • Maintain tanks and vessels database to ensure the status of inspections and repair/replacements is understood and inspection reports are documented in the database.
  • Communicate action items from the inspection reports to the lead team for any changes in the operation and to address any repair or replacement needs in a timely manner.
  • NDE / NDT coordination.
  • Assist in development of boiler scopes and repair plans.
  • Development and execution oversight of facility preservation capital projects.
  • Attend mill Lead Team meetings to periodically review the status of tanks and vessels inspections and repairs.
  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance to other engineers and personnel on tank integrity matters.
