About The Position

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Facility Operations Assistant 2 is a valuable member of our team, who oversees the operation of Materials Management's warehouse and provides constant monitoring of inventory supplies. The qualified candidate will have warehouse experience in a medical setting, be able to maintain inventory tracking and physically receive and organize supplies, and maintain storage area in a logical manner. Duties of a Facility Operations Assistant 2 may include the following but are not limited to: Manage a large warehouse and all maintain related operations of the storeroom Operate and maintain power equipment such as forklifts and power jacks Able to lift heavy objects, load and unload supplies as needed Organize storage and maintain inventory locations in a logical manner Receive and logging large volumes of various supplies Maintain physical locations and report inventory count of supplies on shelves, bins, etc. May need to use a vehicle and move supplies or equipment between facilities This role is the working supervisor; under the general direction of higher-level trades, grounds, warehouse or building management staff, supervises multiple Facility Operations Assistants 1, and may supervise Supply Assistants, students and volunteers.

Requirements

  • Non-competitive: one year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • Valid, active Power Equipment Operator's certificate
  • Must be fluent in English (speak, read and write).
  • Must be familiar with TJC and DOH regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one-year warehouse inventory logistics experience in a hospital environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills.
