This position is based in Ray Brook on the Ray Brook Trail Crew. Candidate will be required to work solo, with at least one other or as part of a crew. Will work in remote mountainous terrain possibly in challenging weather including winter conditions. Duties include but are not limited to: blowdown removal with chainsaws and hand tools, relocating pit privy toilets, trail maintenance and construction, supervising volunteers, assisting Interior Caretakers with projects, boundary line maintenance, garbage removal and various other tasks based on need. Must utilize hand tools for most projects. Must be able to perform heavy physical labor, carry 50-70 lbs backpack loads and negotiate difficult mountainous terrain. Must be flexible with weekly schedule, shift time and work location. Overtime and emergency response may be required. Knowledge of carpentry, electrical and plumbing highly beneficial.
