About The Position
The Facility Operations Assistant 1 position involves performing routine and unskilled work such as carrying supplies and equipment, erecting ladders and scaffolding, cleaning, and repairing drains, and removing materials from the work site. The role includes preparing surfaces and spreading paint, loading and unloading trucks, performing rough carpentry and masonry work, and cleaning the work site after repair work is completed. Additionally, the assistant will perform a variety of routine building maintenance tasks such as unclogging toilets and sinks, and may assist the Trades Generalist with replacing toilet and faucet fixtures. Other maintenance tasks include collecting and disposing of trash, planting or weeding, and snow removal by shovel or powered snow removal equipment. The position also requires replacing light bulbs and washing and dusting fixtures, furnishings, floors, corridors, stairs, stairwells, and partitions using appropriate supplies and equipment, including ladders and scaffolding. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
