We are seeking an entry level Facility Manager to lead operations at Linde’s Bulk Liquid CO₂ plant in Pekin, IL. This is a front-line leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and profitable operations while driving reliability, efficiency, and team development. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep technical knowledge of industrial gases operations, proven management experience, and a passion for safety and operational excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering OR 5+ years of technical operations & management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of operations and leadership experience in industrial or chemical plant environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, make informed decisions, and adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across departments.
  • Results-driven self-starter with proven ability to execute projects and tactical initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Knowledge of screw compressor maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance for rotating equipment, motors, electrical distribution equipment, valves, transmitters, and instrumentation.
  • Experience managing professional drivers
  • Project management

Responsibilities

  • Safe & profitable operations: Ensure the facility runs efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Process optimization: Monitor and adjust plant processes to maximize capacity, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Financial accountability: Achieve fixed and variable cost targets; deliver annual productivity savings through cost reduction and Six Sigma projects.
  • Team leadership: Directly manage a small team of operations technicians and professional drivers; recruit, train, and develop employees.
  • Regulatory compliance: Maintain adherence to OSHA PSM/RMP, DOT, FDA, HPFBI, DEC, EPA, and other applicable requirements.
  • Customer & supplier relations: Build strong relationships to meet contractual obligations and ensure service reliability.
  • Maintenance strategy: Develop and execute short- and long-term maintenance plans to sustain reliable, cost-effective operations.
  • Capital projects: Manage site portfolio of capital and expense projects, engaging engineering resources as needed.
  • Quality assurance: Oversee facility QA programs and support customer and corporate audits.
  • Documentation & change management: Maintain accurate records of equipment and process changes (MOC, Variance, MVF, QA).
  • Crisis response: React urgently to plant issues, mobilizing resources to minimize impact on customers and business.
  • Cross-site support: Provide periodic operational, training, and maintenance support to other Bulk CO2 facilities within the business region.
