About The Position

This position is essential in keeping the Fleet facilities in peak operating condition, allowing the division to efficiently maintain and repair a variety of equipment in the general fleet. This position also plays a key role in maintaining fuel site equipment to support the division's fuel program. This is varied and responsible facility maintenance and custodial work at multiple locations. The employee performs a broad range of semi-skilled maintenance tasks to include minor painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and fueling system repairs; and performs the full range of custodial tasks typical of large governmental facilities (e.g., cleaning office, shop, and common areas). This position also assists with shop operations as needed, including picking up parts and stocking shelves. The work is characterized by significant time spent independently performing semi-skilled maintenance work, in combination with general custodial functions. This position exercises judgment and discretion in identifying and completing necessary custodial, maintenance, and repair tasks under the general supervision of the Acquisitions, EV Charging, and Fuel Manager. The current recruitment is to fill one (1) vacant position. This position will be regularly scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Requirements

Two (2) years of experience performing varied custodial, building maintenance, or repair work.
Building maintenance and custodial practices and procedures.
Tools, equipment, supplies, and materials common to building maintenance and custodial work
Familiarity with Heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanical (HVAC) systems.
Familiarity with Computer software applicable to the duties of the position.
Associate's or technical degree in Facilities Management or a closely related field
One (1) year of experience performing varied custodial, building maintenance, or repair work.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform work while walking/standing for a large percentage of time.
Ability to frequently bend, twist, squat, kneel, climb (including ladders) and reach.
May be required to perform strenuous tasks for a long period of time.
This position requires work outdoors in all types of weather.

Responsibilities

Clean all sections of the facilities, such as offices, restrooms, locker rooms, exercise rooms, shop areas, stairways, hallways, break rooms, storerooms, and mezzanine storage areas. This includes satellite garage facilities.
Empty trash and recyclables.
Wash windows, walls, floors, light switches, ceilings, etc.
Clean light fixtures and change light bulbs.
Polish and dust furniture.
Set up and take down furniture in the Training Room for special meetings.
Shovel and plow snow.
Maintain facility grounds, including mowing the lawn, raking leaves, and maintaining shrubs, trees, flowers, and other landscaping.
Clean exterior of the building, parking lot, and grounds, including picking up trash.
Maintain inventory of needed supplies.
Perform monthly fuel site inspections and repairs as needed.
Paint walls and/or ceilings.
Perform minor carpentry work, including building shelves, installing doors, etc.
Perform semi-skilled electrical work, including installing light switches, lamps, ballasts, wall outlets, and lighting fixtures.
Perform semi-skilled plumbing repairs, such as replacing faucets or flush valves.
Check the building security systems including doors, gates, and switches and perform minor repairs.
Service water softeners.
Maintain shop equipment, including overhead crane, pneumatic compressor, and automated fluid dispensing system.
Service and maintain small equipment, including mowers, snow blower, string trimmer, etc.
Coordinate fire alarm and sprinkler inspections.
Complete and maintain annual spill prevention, control, and countermeasure training.
Coordinate additional building maintenance and repair tasks with the Engineering Division Facilities Management section.
With approval from supervisor, work with outside vendors to complete additional maintenance and repair tasks as needed.
Shuttle vehicles.
Assist the Parts Room, including picking up parts and stocking received parts.
Oversee hourly employees and supported workers in delegated custodial tasks.
Complete other special projects as assigned.
Perform other related work as required
