About The Position

The Facility Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring our buildings' and equipment's safety, functionality, and operational efficiency. A successful Maintenance Technician will leverage their mechanical skills and collaboration with managers and staff to keep them informed of open items or concerns in a professional manner. The Maintenance Technician will ensure their assigned facilities operate at peak efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field, with demonstrated proficiency in mechanical systems and equipment repair.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in performing maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment, and documenting repairs.
  • A strong commitment to safety practices and protocols to ensure the well-being of staff and patients.
  • A customer-centric approach to addressing maintenance issues and supporting the needs of clinic staff and patients.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, emergency situations, and unforeseen challenges in facility maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other facilities staff, contractors, and departmental teams to achieve maintenance goals.
  • Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills to repair and maintain various facility systems and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
  • High ethical standards and integrity in carrying out maintenance tasks, adhering to professional codes of conduct, confidentiality, and organizational policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, or a related field preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • HIV experience in a not-for-profit environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, identifying maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments and external contractors for more complicated tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to clinic operations.
  • Respond promptly to site emergency repair requests, addressing issues such as leaks, power outages, and equipment failures to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and tasks to ensure the facility systems’ ongoing reliability and performance.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner, using the ticketing system, documenting repairs, parts used, and labor hours for accurate record-keeping and tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards while performing maintenance and repair tasks, prioritizing safety for staff and patients.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies, replenishing stock as needed to support maintenance activities.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, and other facility equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment warranties for reference and reporting purposes.
  • Adherence to all agency policies, including Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, and other relevant policies.
