Facility Maintenance Technician

About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on building systems, utilities, and assigned equipment within a Distribution Center environment. This role supports daily operations through general facility maintenance, including basic to intermediate electrical work, mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC support, and building and grounds upkeep. The position works independently and as part of a team while ensuring compliance with OSHA, NEC, and NFPA safety standards.

Requirements

  • Facility or industrial maintenance experience
  • Exposure to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building maintenance systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints
  • Strong troubleshooting, prioritization, and communication skills
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training in building trades preferred
  • 5–10+ years of facility or industrial maintenance experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems and infrastructure
  • Conduct basic to moderate electrical work, including lighting, outlets, panels (480V/120V preferred), troubleshooting, and assisting with electrical installations
  • Support mechanical systems such as pumps, motors, compressors
  • Perform general building maintenance including light plumbing, carpentry, painting, and structural repairs
  • Assist with HVAC system monitoring and maintenance
  • Inspect and maintain safety systems (fire protection, eyewash stations, extinguishers, spill containment)
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and construction layouts
  • Maintain organization and housekeeping of maintenance shops and utility areas
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and operations to minimize downtime
  • Participate in emergency response, shutdowns, and on-call support as needed
  • Follow OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and company safety procedures
  • Utilize PPE and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Participate in safety inspections and compliance programs
