About The Position

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections to ensure the efficient operation of the facility. This position requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in facility maintenance or a related field, with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and climbing, as well as the ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols, including OSHA guidelines, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required for certain positions.

Responsibilities

  • Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as HVAC system checks, plumbing inspections, electrical system tests, and other routine upkeep activities. Will also need to be able to paint, caulk, and perform minor floor repairs.
  • Repairs: Diagnose and repair equipment and systems as needed, including but not limited to electrical fixtures, plumbing issues, HVAC systems, and structural repairs.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify issues with facility equipment or systems and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials, adherence to safety procedures, and maintenance of safety equipment.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours calls, and take appropriate action to resolve issues and prevent further damage.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and equipment inventory, to track maintenance history and facilitate future repairs.
  • Communication: Coordinate with other departments or external contractors as needed to schedule repairs, order replacement parts, and ensure smooth operation of facility systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance programs to identify potential issues before they escalate, extend the lifespan of equipment, and reduce the need for costly repairs.
  • Facility Upkeep: Perform general cleaning and upkeep tasks to maintain a clean and organized work environment, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
