About The Position

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing technical and trades work in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of Town buildings and facilities. This role involves a variety of tasks including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, construction, and painting, requiring a range of skills from basic to journey-level. The technician will also oversee contract workers and ensure compliance with safety standards while maintaining the Town's equipment and systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a variety of building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
• Basic computer skills related to data entry and record keeping.
• Ability to learn and perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in building maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled to journey-level trades work in electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Assist the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor in overseeing contractors' work.
• Repair and maintain interior and exterior lighting, including installation of fixtures and electrical components.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair door locks and electronic access systems.
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures and maintain plumbing systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems.
• Conduct carpentry work including framing, insulation, and repairs to building structures.
• Operate hand and power tools, and a Town vehicle for maintenance tasks.
• Develop material and supply lists for jobs and purchase materials as needed.
• Respond to citizen inquiries regarding maintenance projects.
