The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for daily maintenance operations of the assigned facility. This includes staffing, providing training and developing preventative maintenance programs and updated operations manuals as needed. He/she also acts as a liaison with the community. A complete list of benefits can be found at www.cityoflsbenefits.com Job Scope: Directly supervised volunteers, employees, and contract professionals for the cleaning and maintenance of the assigned facility. Responsible for the preparation, administration and monitoring of the maintenance budget. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, monitors workflow, and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance programs. 2. Assists management in establishing goals and objectives of the assigned facility and develops policies to assist in directing operations and attaining objectives. 3. Oversees and evaluates contractual services and recommends a wide variety of contract needs and any necessary changes. 4. Evaluates productivity through observation and direct contact with co-workers and patrons as well as by written surveys. Determines needs for specific modifications to work procedures. 5. Collaborates with other divisions of the Department in order to ensure delivery of service consistent with Departmental missions and objectives. 6. Assists in the preparation of the budget for the assigned facility related to maintenance matters; 7. Recruits, selects, supervises, trains and appraises part-time and seasonal personnel in the division. 8. Regularly inspects the assigned facility in order to evaluate operations and work performance of personnel. 9. Cleans all floors in the facility, including corridors, walkways, and offices, through sweeping, mopping or picking up debris. 10. Operates floor buffers, vacuums, carpet cleaners, and other cleaning equipment. 11. Coordinates overall cleaning and maintenance of assigned facility in accordance with established standards, including staff scheduling, training and orientation. 12. Organizes cleaning areas, storage rooms, and supply rooms. 13. Conducts periodic training meetings for staff as needed. 14. Coordinates all preventative maintenance of HVAC system, locker rooms, decks, wood, and other areas. 15. Performs minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance, such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work. 16. Responsible for maintenance and service records of all equipment. 17. Coordinates set-up and take-down of rooms for classes, special events, and activities as assigned. 18. Performs aquatic maintenance as required. Monitors and maintains pool filtration system and monitors pool water chemistry through testing of water samples. Adjusts chemistry as needed to maintain standards. 19. Maintains exterior perimeter of assigned facility by keeping walk clean and free from debris, de-weeding flower beds; picking up trash, snow and ice removal, parking lot maintenance and repair and other general maintenance tasks. 20. Plans, trains, assigns, evaluates and supervises the work of part-time and full-time maintenance personnel 21. Responds to patron complaints and requests and attempts to resolve in a timely manner. 22. Assures proper equipment is available for set up and take down for each activity. Maintains up-to-date inventory of supplies. 23. Maintains personnel, payroll, records and master files. 24. Ensures the enforcement of park and recreation rules and regulations. 25. Performs those activities necessary to ensure the safety of co-workers and patrons. 26. Purchases necessary supplies and equipment using department procedures. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all City, County and State licensing requirements or other regulations in the operations of assigned programs and facilities. 27. Receives, collects and compiles patron feedback and comments regarding programs, facilities, and events; responds to and reports patron feedback and comments according to established procedures. Attends Park Board meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings as required. 2. Serves as a member of the Park Visit Team as assigned. 3. Serves as a staff member for special events as assigned. 4. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technologies or related field is required; at the discretion of the Department, 6 years of direct experience may be substituted for 4-year degree, or a combination of education & experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ increasingly responsible management experience required; and,
  • Basic first aid, AED and CPR certification required within three (3) months of date of hire.
  • Ability to acquire Aquatic Facility Operator’s (AFO) certification within one year of date of hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a leadership position preferred; and,
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in construction, maintenance, repair, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC or related field preferred; and,
