About The Position

Under limited supervision, maintains the hospital and/or hospital properties physical structure, grounds and systems, including snow removal. Performs maintenance in areas of mechanical, electrical, carpentry, refrigeration, and plumbing. Calibration of critical medical gas systems. Assist with all combative patient and guest situations with security services and responds to emergency situations as necessary. Maintenance Mechanic License required. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED, or higher education
  • Valid State of Michigan drivers license
  • Licensed Plumber

Responsibilities

  • Physical Plant Work Orders/Projects Diagnoses/evaluates and repairs, as indicated by work orders, or as non-scheduled or emergency situations arise, items including painting, carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, tube system, energy management etc. Demonstrates skill at problem solving particularly electrical issues or concerns.
  • Lead Mechanic Responsible for emergency generator testing and routine maintenance. Interprets blueprints, and has working knowledge of the buildings
  • Projects and Problem Solving Exhibits a willingness to accept and thoroughly follow through with all new projects and renovations, and demonstrates skill at problem solving and working all individuals in the project. Anticipates electrical needs and leads projects related to electrical upgrades.
  • Systems Operates, maintains, tests, calibrates systems such as boilers, HVAC systems, generators, lighting systems, energy management systems as well as other medical equipment as needed.
  • Exterior, Building Envelope and Grounds Performs routine maintenance on exterior lights, electrical outlets and electrical sources such as transformers. Completes seasonal duties such as snow plowing and sidewalk maintenance, as well as other exterior duties as assigned. Cooperates with Security Service to ensure safety of buildings and grounds.
  • Emergency Response Responds to emergency situations within the hospital or grounds that include fire drills, electrical emergencies, disasters, and disaster training.
  • Off-Site Property Completes work orders and performs projects as required on rental and offsite properties.
