About The Position

Mahoney State Park as a Facility Maintenance Assistant and help keep our facilities safe, functional, and guest-ready. We are seeking a dependable team member who contributes to a proactive, team-based culture and has experience or a strong desire to learn basic trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the park’s many facilities, including 60 modern cabins, 40 lodge hotel-style rooms, and other critical park structures. Requirements

  • At least three months experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework/training.
  • Basic maintenance principles and safe tool operation
  • General building systems and routine facility upkeep
  • Learn and apply basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC skills
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks with attention to detail
  • Troubleshoot minor maintenance issues
  • Follow safety procedures and work instructions
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

  • Ability to work assigned hours as needed (including some weekends and holidays)
  • Reliable attendance
  • Ability to perform physically active work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Experience in general maintenance or a strong willingness to learn basic skilled trades

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on cabins, lodge rooms, and other park facilities to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Assist with appliance maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
  • Support basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and HVAC tasks under guidance as needed.
  • Repair or refinish furniture and fixtures to maintain appearance and functionality.
  • Aid in maintaining and monitoring the park’s water supply systems.
  • Assist with maintenance and operational support for the Family Aquatic Center and other park amenities.
  • Identify and report maintenance concerns or safety issues.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition.
  • Contribute positively to a proactive, team-oriented work culture.
