The Facility & Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the building, infrastructure, and operational environment of Eurofins Genomics manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for routine building maintenance, facility upkeep, and utility support to ensure a safe, compliant, and fully functional operation. In addition, the technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and validation of laboratory and production equipment. The role ensures reliable performance of both facility systems and lab instrumentation while minimizing downtime in a regulated (cGMP/ISO) environment.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in building and facility maintenance required.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • CMMS experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Excel.
  • Forklift experience (certification preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to lift 35+ pounds and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or equivalent in Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Facilities Maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience maintaining industrial or laboratory equipment preferred; cGMP/ISO environment a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine building maintenance and general facility upkeep.
  • Maintain lighting, electrical fixtures, minor plumbing, doors, ceilings, flooring, and interior/exterior building components.
  • Support facility utility systems including HVAC, compressed air, and related infrastructure.
  • Manage and support chemical reagent and waste handling, including proper segregation, storage, labeling, and coordination for disposal in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor facility conditions and proactively address maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors and vendors for repairs, inspections, and specialized services not performed internally.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Operate a forklift for movement of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and validation of laboratory and production equipment, including oligo synthesizer, automated liquid handling systems, HPLC, and general lab instrumentation.
  • Interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Support installation and qualification of new or upgraded equipment.
  • Maintain equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Document work orders, preventive maintenance, and repairs
  • Maintain records in compliance with Quality System requirements.
  • Follow all cGMP, ISO, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Handle hazardous materials using proper PPE and established procedures.
  • Maintain required certifications (RCRA, HAZWOPER, DOT HazMat).
  • Communicate effectively across shifts.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as required.
  • Complete required training and perform other related duties as assigned.
