About The Position

The Facility Engineering Intern will support the Facility Maintenance team in planning, maintaining, and improving building infrastructure, equipment, and facility systems. This internship provides hands-on experience in facility operations, preventive maintenance programs, infrastructure improvement projects, and engineering documentation. The intern will assist with data collection, project coordination, drawing updates, preventive maintenance tracking, and troubleshooting activities while working closely with engineers, contractors, and maintenance personnel. This position is designed to provide practical exposure to facility engineering principles in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) OR enrolled in a technical degree program related to facility maintenance or engineering.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles (mechanical, electrical, HVAC preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain clean work areas.
  • Valid driver’s license (if required for site-related duties).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic facility engineering tasks including electrical systems, HVAC, hydraulics, and building management systems (BMS).
  • Support ongoing facility improvement and maintenance projects.
  • Help analyze operational processes, energy use, and maintenance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining facility drawings (paper and electronic).
  • Support preventive maintenance documentation and tracking within ERP systems.
  • Participate in project meetings and assist in coordinating activities with contractors and vendors.
  • Assist in gathering data for cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Help maintain organized records of equipment layouts, infrastructure systems, and maintenance logs.
  • Support troubleshooting activities under supervision of Facility Engineers or Maintenance Technicians.
  • Assist in inventory tracking and identification of replacement components.
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform general administrative and technical support tasks as assigned.
